KESSIE
Having carved out a space in UK club music over the 6 years, London born, Leeds-based Kessie has developed a sound very much all her own. As as a proud parent and resident of NARR Radio and monthly queer night Love Muscle, Kessie’s techno tends towards the looping and the cerebral: a marriage of the hypnotic and the driving very few can effectively deliver. Being hard of hearing, Kessie’s relationship with audio is an especially physical, vibrational one, and her selections reflects this. Blistering kicks and sonic bleeps are integral building blocks, as are the intricate, sleazy mixes equally audible when she does bend the tempo and showcases her ear for bass, jungle, EBM, post punk, grunge, ambient. After a serious 12 months which has seen her booked at Fold, Berghain, E1, About Blank, and many more of Europe’s most prestigious clubs, expect to see Kessie’s penchant for the penetrative and raw in a dark room near you soon.
