DANNY DAZE
Labels: (Omnidisc, Schematic)
Danny Daze—born Daniel Gomez—is a Cuban-American DJ, producer, label-head, and visual artist who has become a defining force in the world of underground electronic music. Raised in Miami, Florida, Daze’s musical identity was shaped early by the city’s rich cultural mix, particularly the raw energy of Miami bass, electro, freestyle, and the global influx of 1990s techno. His entry into music came through a deeply personal channel: his mother, under the condition that he repay her, bought him his first pair of turntables.
By the age of 13 Daze was immersed in Miami’s B-boy culture and began to hone his craft as a DMC Battle DJ and selector, known for an intuitive ability to shift between genres and moods. In 2001, he began exploring production using cracked versions of Fruity Loops and launched a white-label imprint called Omniamm, setting the stage for what would become a lifelong commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound. His career started to take off in 2005 with his DiscoTech alias, which quickly became the #1 remixing team on sites like crooklynclan.net. His solo breakthrough came in 2011 with the release of “Your Everything”—a raw, Miami Bass inspired house track that gained international attention and signaled his arrival on the global scene.
Yet Daze was never content to ride the wave of a single sound or moment. His DJ sets, much like his personality, are unpredictable and uncompromising. Known for playing genre-defying selections that leap from techno to Italo disco to electro, he’s equally at home on warehouse floors and world-renowned clubs like Berghain, where it wouldn’t be unusual to hear him sneak in a Paula Abdul track mid-set. For Daze, DJing isn’t performance—it’s ceremony, a crafted experience meant to be felt rather than seen.
In 2015, he founded Omnidisc, a revamp of his earlier label found in 2005 called Omniamm. Omnidisc is a vinyl-focused label dedicated to raw, unpolished sounds that might not otherwise find a home on more conventional imprints. Initially anonymous, the label quickly garnered respect for its focus on experimental electro and club tracks that favored emotional resonance over technical perfection. Distributed via respected hubs like Kompakt and Clone, Omnidisc has become a launchpad for a new generation of producers pushing sonic boundaries. Daze once explained his vision succinctly: he wants to release “songs you’ll remember when you walk out the door and albums focused on a purely experiential ethos.”
His influence is perhaps felt most deeply in his hometown. Deeply connected to Miami’s evolving electronic scene, Daze has actively supported its infrastructure, from playing benefit gigs to pledging 50% of the proceeds from his EP “Propaganda & Manipulation” to save local record stores like Technique Records during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, he curated and produced Homecore! Miami All-Stars, a massive 40+ track compilation that celebrated Miami’s overlooked but potent legacy in electronic music—a heartfelt homage to the city that raised him.
Daze splits his time between Miami and Amsterdam, embodying a dual identity that allows him to stay grounded in local culture while engaging with international networks of creatives. Trained as an audio engineer, he works out of both analog and digital studios, often bringing gear on the road to translate his experiences directly into sound. His artistic pursuits extend into the visual realm as well. His debut album, ::BLUE::, has been presented not just as a record, but as an immersive audio-visual experience—planned for live performance in planetariums and other multimedia spaces.
In addition to his own productions, Daze continues to remix major artists while releasing on labels such as Omnidisc, Schematic, Craigie Knowes, Moustache Records and Phantasy. Now using several aliases such as “D33”, which focuses on simpler stripped-back house & funky breaks dance music, or “Danny From Miami” which focuses on his Hispanic roots with collaborations like his “Con Cariño EP” alongside MJ Nebreda on Fools Gold Records. Regardless of where his music lands, his ethos remains consistent: authenticity over trend, feeling over form.
More than two and a half decades into his career, Danny Daze remains a prominent presence in electronic music. Whether behind the decks, in the studio, or curating for his label, he operates on instinct and honesty, always returning to the belief that music is a medium for memory, movement, and meaning.
