Porter brook
Labels: Trule, Groundwork
Porter Brook forged his practice in the crucible of Sheffield’s low-end industrialism.
With two releases on Sheffield’s cult label and night Groundwork at the age of 17, he soon held a residency at Hope Works and the No Bounds Festival. His sound has since blossomed, with releases on labels such as Al Wootton’s Trule, Aaron J’s Sure Thing, as well as executive production work for his close collaborator LINTD on The White Hotel’s in-house label Head ii.
More recently, he co-founded Second Born, a record label and arts platform that provides tangible resources and sustainably supports the visions of a new generation of artists coming up in an increasingly struggling and fleeting underground club culture.
As a DJ, he deftly balances an auteur-like approach to experimental electronics with an instinctive understanding of the dance floor — the result of an adolescence spent with his head stuck in a bass bin somewhere in the north of England.
